Today I’ve read an article called ”Thursday Night Bowling’ by a woman of the Hannah on thisibelieve.org. In the article Hannah explain the important of friendship, she does this by telling about how after high school her and her friend fell out of sync.

            They fell out because the long distance friendship thing of calling everyday and talking didn’t have enough priories in each of their busy lives.

            She tells how some old acquaintances became close by having conversations and how they do stuff together. One example f this is how they go bowling every Thursday.

            She said without bowling she doesn’t know if she would’ve kept being close with her friends. In fact she said the they may all have new friends, they will always be friends because every one of them come to the bowling alley ever Thursday.

             For me I think friend are just made where ever we g whether its college, a new job, or even a brief meeting. I also believe that if even you move away that you can still keep in touch in various ways such as social networking, video chats, or even texting each other on important and interesting events that happen recently to them.

            One example that make think this is the recent is the story of WWII survivors’ hope and friendships after years of captivity and forced labor to them. A man once married an girl he met in camp. 

Broadcasting A World Of Whiteness

Recently here in journalism class at parkway west high school I read an article call “Broadcasting A World Of Whiteness.” This article was written by Jon Caramanica, a writer for the New York Times In the article there is evidence that most television shows are racial or using discrimination. The article states that the majority of the popular shows gives a race that isn’t white only a few lines, such shows are Two And A Half Man, Glee, How I Met Your Mother, and many more.

Also the article describes shows that show a perfect example of how to use a diverse cast such as “The Game” or “ Happy Endings”. It states that the show’s cast is compatible and laughs at each other jokes if someone would crack one at another cast member.

I personally feel the cast of all white members has become the ideal American television show since the mid 60’s.  For example “ The 70’s Show”, “Full House” is kids television shows that most kids idolize because they have the model families that most kids want to have. Like when I was a kid I used to fantasize about sitting at the kitchen table with my family eating dinner at seven o’clock everyday, but that is just how the American lifestyle is.

New Fashion Wrinkle

Recently at Parkway West High School’s journalism class we read an article called “New Fashion Wrinkle. In the article there was informing information about a new clothing line from Woolrich. The 182 year old new clothing line isn’t what you usual see when you go out to buy new clothes. It isn’t what you would usually see because the clothes are especially made to hide your concealed handguns. They give you two different to do this; the first way is in the second pocket behind the traditional front pocket. The second way is by putting in it in the stretchable elastic band lining in your pants.

            I think that the new clothing line is really amazing and wonderful. I say that because before if you walked down the street your concealed weapon would’ve been noticed from sticking out or something.

            Also I think that when someone tries to rob you they would be in a real predicament. For example some fake robbers might pull out an unloaded or counterfeit gun to make you scare so you will give up all of your valuables to them, but if you have a weapon concealed they will be in a life-threaten situation.

            Also I think that because in the Philadelphia streets that I live in it’s a constant battle for survival. Most kids my age are into the expensive things like me, we buy 300 dollars jeans just to get robbed for them or our sneakers that range from $100 to $420

Health Fair

Recently Parkway West had a health fair for us, the students here. The health fair was held so the seniors could bring information of a healthy lifestyle of sex, eating, and health care.

To show us ways to have a healthy sex life, they gave out condoms to us, the students. They gave us condom brands such as lifestyles, free condoms, and “one”. They had a table that displayed papers, which had lots of information from research of sexual transmitted diseases (STDs), how to put on and use a condom the appropriate way. They also had opinions and suggestions on getting condoms by visiting the free clinic to get them for free. They showed us lubricant that you use before having sex.

 They told us about the difference between a STD & a STI. An STI is a sexually transmitted infection and an STD is a sexually transmitted disease. They also gave out information to us know how’s to protect ourselves from both STDs and STIs. 

Also they gave out brochures for eating right to have a healthy and long life. On the brochures were suggestions on which foods are good to eat and bad to eat. Did you know there is 2.5 severing in a 20-ounce bottle of soda or juice

I think the health fair was a great way to reach out to us about the topics at hand.  I think that because our generation today is facing serious problems that will affect future generations to come next.

Trayvon Martin

We all know the story of Trayvon Martin and how he was killed by a racist caucasin man. This just proves that racism still lives today. He wasn’t doing anything just minding his own business with an Arizona tea in his hand and skittles in his pocket. When George Zimmerman called the police about a suspicious black man in a hoodie walking around the neighborhood. The police told him not to follow Trayvon but he still did. What do you call that? Anyway now he is dead and almost everyone believes this is the start of a new war.

George Zimmerman dad said, “because he was mixed he could not possibly be racist but at the end of the police tape he said f’n coons. Which is something they called blacks back in the. Where ever you go you hear abot trayvon martins death that could have easily been avoided. Just the other day I had seen this black man that wasn't doing nuffin get pulled over by the police they ask was that nice camero his. This crazy cause even though he black don't mean he can't have no money. Treavon was on the phone talking to his girlfriend when all of a sudden this white man chasing him. Like this racist stuff on both sides ben happening so much that I'm starting to think one day this could be me. Not that I'm scared but forreal this crazy.

Blog Post 8: Cinnamon Challenge

For a while now the cinnamon challenge has been going around.  Before it was done in like the early 2000’s then it was forgotten about but now it’s back and everyone wants to try.  The twist of this challenge is that this challenge can kill you.  If you drank any liquid while doing this challenge the cinnamon can get clumpy and kill you.  If you swallow I believe it can widen your throat and that can permanently damage your throat.  It’s disappointing to see people doing this even though they know the dangers of this.  Even students at my school tried this; they were immediately suspended for that stupid act.  I personally wish students stop foolin around especially wit such a dumb act.  I’m gonna say one thing though if they know this could possibly kill dem why they do it cause it’s stupid.  Some student, actually don’t know about this like Darryl Harris.  Andre Shaw said, “I think it’s funny but it is stupid I wouldn’t do that.”  Ellisha Reed said, it could absorb all the water in your throat and kill you.”  Emaijah said, it’s freaking stupid.”  Andrea said, I would never do something that stupid.”  This should make people wanna not do it.

For Women Under 30, Most Births Occur Outside Marriage

This article expresses that women under the age of thirty have kids outside of marriage.  This article also says, that most of the women under thirty that have most kids out of marriage are white women.  The article also expresses that these women may or may not be in a relationship at all weather marriage or dating that person.  The article said, “Among mothers of all ages, a majority- 59 percent in 2009- are married when they have children.”  This doesn’t matter to me because not all people want to get married.  Student Emaijah Johnson said, “I think you are totally correct because not everyone want to get married and for some ‘sociologist’, to say marriage is a luxury nowadays is totally ignorant.”  She went on to say, “I think this article is about how for decades now most women under thirty are having most kids out of marriage and that it is looked down upon, and talks about how it affects the kids involved.”  Student Ellisha Reed said, “I think that it doesn’t matter if you’re married or not because you’re going to have kids if you want to.”  Student Darryl Harris said, “This article is so crappy and totally untrue.”  Student Zenikee Watford said, it’s sad that people aren’t getting married and have to be single parents but it just shows how strong people are.”  Well there it is different opinions but I still think that is doesn’t married cause wat if is dey don’t want to get married? 

Blog #6: A Dispute Over Ray Charles

In the month of March a foundation Ray Charles started is suing seven of the singer’s children. The foundation accused Charles’s children a violating an agreement with their father. The children are accused of illegality claims rights to their father’s estate. In the contract with their father, the seven adult children are forbidden to claim rights to their father’s estate. The foundation claims that the children sent out notices of claims to their father’s music. But the children are supposed to have relinquished their rights to their father’s estate by accepting a 500,000 dollar trust fund in 2002 two years before their father’s death.

                The foundation says that it supports programs that help the hearing disabled people like Ray Charles. The foundation states that they our using the money from the estate of Ray Charles to fund those programs. The article states that the children of the star are claiming for a renegotiation of copyrights. Also it says that the children claim some songs can’t be copyrighted because the composer was paid by an individual or group of individuals to write the music.

                I think that the foundation is the right party. I think this because the children got 500,000 dollars from their dad already and now they want more? They are just a bunch of money hungry kids of a famous artist.

Facebook Is Using You

Do you like using social networking to interact with others? Do you use facebook? Do you like having free social networks? Well that’s false facebook is not fee, in fact you are giving it its profit by just signing in each day. In the Article "Facebook Is Using You" the author tells of how facebook makes money off of every one of its users.

         Facebook makes 3.2 billion dollars in revenues last year alone. Facebook gets pays from advertisement that shows up on the side of your facebook page. The facebook company sells your personal information to other corporations in order to get paid money to continue providing its services to you.

         I think that what facebook is doing is not right because one of those companies that is sold your personal information could have a psycho employee who stalk and kill people. Also I don’t like what the people put on their pages.                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Blog Post #4:North Korean Nuclear Warfare

Is there a nuclear war in progress or not. Well according to a article from CNN.com North Korea may has set up a long range missile on a launch pad. A South Korean Defense Ministry official, who wanted to stay unidentified, confirmed the information. The official also stated the missile was moved to the northeastern part of Dongchang-ri. Dongchang-ri is a village located in North Korea; president Barack Obama visited a university for foreign studies in Pyongyang. While there he spoke with students about him wanting to speak with military officials about the suppose missile. The president wanted to discuss with them about the national security that the North Koreans could breach when launching the missile at another country. If that happen it could possibly start another world war. 

         In my opinion us, the United States should stop North Korea before they create a national incident. The incident could have a huge negative affect on the world. The negative affect could nuclear waste or even the destruction of many countries and or continents. The effect can even accelerate global warming. If that should happen the world, as we know it could come to its end do to gigantic floods.

         Also I think that every country will exhaust their resources and alliances with neighboring countries. In this world the alliances are important to have because interracial bonding is the key to the survival of mankind, as we know it, just as we as individuals meet different types of people in different places.

I Am A Criminal

 Hey you have you ever broke any rules or laws in your lifetime. Imagine one day you woke up to the sound of your front door being busted down by police officers. You are being charge and arrested for a misdemeanor that you didn’t even pay attention to. The publisher of the article is named Michelle Alexander. In the article she describes that everyone has committed a crime at least once. Also she says that just because you haven’t been caught and put in jail yet doesn’t mean that are not a criminal. She mentions how criminal can change their ways after being imprisoned. She says people can really change if given the correct place and time to make amends for their crime and to also change their ways of living. Alexander thinks if we as a nation had a census or ever committing a crime, everyone would check the box for committing one before. Also she thinks that the nation can benefit from it each in its own way.

I think that the article is true about most of the things it describes in it like the fact that many Americans commit crimes every day. One crime I noticed is an increase of public smoking of “weed” and law enforcement not doing anything about it. Also I noticed an increase of stealing products or automobile just in the last 6 months.

Michelle Alexander truly brought out the attention of us noticing  what we do as a part of our everyday lives.

Photo Shopped

Do you get excited when seeing a photograph of your favorite celebrates or athlete. Well you may be disappointed after reading an article titled “Photoshop or Not.” The pictures you see on magazines, articles, books are all digitally altered on a computer by photographers. Sometimes they can demand their photos to not have pimples, fat, embarrassing stains on their clothes. A prime example of this would be a photograph of Beyoncé when she was pregnant, one of her photos changed by this will make her seem as if she isn’t pregnant at all. But that can have a negative effect on people, people try to imitate the look and style their idols. Some people take the “swag” of their idols as a need to perfect their self-imagine to gain attention from the people who they like or are crushing on. People who do this are most likely insane or obsess with their looks.

I think this is all messed up cause people should be happy with the way how they look without adjusting their appearances. I mean that you should just try to be yourself instead of trying to be like other people because if we had a world where everybody looks the same we would all be the same. That would just be boring. It would be boring because you would get confused at who you are talking to or chilling with. For example imagine if you are chilling with twins and one of them left and you started talking about the wrong one and they get offended that’s how the world would be.

In China, Human Costs Are Built Into an IPad

In the article “In China, Human Costs Are Built Into an IPad” Apple factories have bad conditions for workers and they recently had multiple explosions, killing many and hospitalized many more. The factories blew up because of their poor safety conditions. This article talks about one of the workers who died after fighting for his life after an explosion. The Apple Corporation sent the worker’s family a small payment for their lost one’s life. The factories’ workers have to work standing up for 16 hours a day and there legs swell up so bad that they could be amputated. They don't have ventilation to eliminate dangerous materials in the air like aluminum; people walk around with little sparkles on the corner of their eyes and their hair after they have taken a shower.

I think that Apple is really slimly and they are making too much money too much to not take good care of their workers. They people that work for them are stupid for allowing them to pay them so little bit of money to try to take care of their families on.

I think they should just protest or go on strike for better work conditions and better pay. Maybe they would treat the workers differently and better so them would get reported or shut down by a better company.

Sony

Sony is one of the world’s largest entertainment companies. The founder, Masaru Ibuka founded the company in 1950. Since then they have produced popular inventions like the compact disc (cd), portable televisions, and transistor radios.

            Recently Sony has released new inventions such as plasma televisions, Sony Ericsson mobile phones, and VAIO laptops. The new Sony plasma televisions combine the Internet with a motion sensor backlight, wifi, and a presence sensor.

Sony Ericsson phones are a combination of portable gaming system and android smart phone.

The VAIO has the latest Microsoft system, windows 7. Also it boots up in under 17 seconds and has a long life battery that last for almost 5 hours.

            Some people don’t like Sony products; one of them is a freshman Darryl Harris. Darryl Harris said, “I don’t like Sony Playstation 3s because their graphics are lame compared to a Xbox 360’s graphics.”

Others say Sony makes good products; Freshmen Nasir Madison said, “I dropped my PSP a bunch of times, and it still didn’t break. Also their speakers last for a long time cause my mom still got hers from when I was born.”

Cell Phones In School

There are many types of dangers in the world where students can get hurt or even end up dead. That’s why they should be allowed in school. They should be allowed in school for numerous reasons. Such reasons are because they can be really useful with the right set of rules applied to them.

             Cell phones can be used times of distress or emergency. They can be used in emergencies because students can report incidents when they occur. In 2008, there were 5.8 million and more police reports of traffic crashes in which 37,261 people were killed and 2.3 million injured the United States. Also students can record the incident to show to a teacher or adult. One incident that could of be recorded is when a 25 year old teacher, Mark Allen Hyzer abused a 15 year old boy in Irvington, Maryland. Hyzer touch and said inappropriate things to the boy.   

            Cell phones can be used to do school work/assignments. Students can use phones for tools such as calculators to do math work. Students at the New York Hall of Science used smart phones to test the air around them for carbon dioxide and other substances. They did that by downloading applications on their phones. Also students can their phones for reminders of upcoming assignments due. They can do that by setting events or due dates on their cellular device’s calendars. In Scottsdale, Arizona the students of Chaparral High School use their cell phones to do class work. They use the web to research physics and human anatomy. The vice principal and teachers say now all their students are increasing their grades and knowledge.

 Parents can keep track of their child whereabouts. If schools allowed cell phones, parents will know if their children skip or be late for school. For example there is an application for android phones called Life 360. The app Life 360 allows you to add family members with an account to your family tree. Also it shows you registered criminals that live in areas around you that have been in prison before. Also if the students leave their phones places they can trace who ever steals the object. For example sad parents of a seventeen year old girl named Chelsea King found her missing car by tracing her cell phones which was under the back seat of the vehicle.

 Allowing cellphones in school can really help students and the community.so many incidents that happened in school every year could’ve been prevented. Incidents from teachers abusing students to emergencies could be brought to justice sooner than later. I say this because thousands of incidents happen every year before school, during school or after school to students, which could have been prevented if they were allowed to take their phones to school.

Teaching Kids How To Break Up Nicely

The main idea of the article “Teaching Kids How To Break Up Nicely” is to have a good reaction after a break up. Also if you broke up over Faceboook or any other social network, don’t be all hype or fast to get into another one. The article states that most teenagers change their relationship statuses almost instantly. For example one boy could not wait to get home so he could change his relationship status from “in a relationship” to “single.” The group’s adult facilitators stood there listening to two girls question the boy about why he said that. They also disagreed with the boy’s response and reason for believing that is a good way to believe how a relationship should end.

In that one-day break up meeting teenagers was able to associate with other people to express their feelings and deepest thoughts about past relationships. Also the teens can share their experience with the others so they wont make the same mistake as they did. One girl gave her thoughts on the situation when the boy wanted to hurry home so he can just write about his ex girlfriend in a bad manner.

Personally I think that the meeting is a good way to help mankind fix some of their imperfections. I say this because the people got to get a lot of pain and thoughts off of their mind, so they wont have a high possibility of snapping on so one

My opinion on the biggest news story of 2011

I think the biggest news story of the year of 2011 was the news of hurricane Irene. I think it is the best news of 2011 because Philadelphia usually doesn’t receive that kind of weather. We are far from the equator that is why everyone was surprise to hear that we were going to get hit by hurricane Irene weather conditions.

In mid August there was a slight earthquake in which most people didn’t even feel. But for the people who did they posted messages about it on all the social networks. The main social networks such as Twitter and Facebook became over loaded. Also cellular networks such T-Mobile towers fell from the shock of the quake. Many people were very upset because they couldn’t call to see if their love ones were alright.

A few days after that news a broadcast was aired and everybody’s final summer plans were ruined. The broadcast was about a hurricane called Irene moving up north. Many people was so afraid of the natural deserter was coming to a city so far from the equator.

The government officials of the states that were predicted to be hit by the effects of the hurricane had emergency broadcasts. The broadcast was a discussion about the plans to prepare for the weather. The officials announced that they would be closing the roads in and out of the states for the citizen’s protection.

So many families had to cancel or make a rain check for their vacation. One of those families was mines, our trip had to take place on September 23 because that was the only open spot for the rest of 2011. 

Apple Corporation

The Apple Corporation has many achievements in the past years. I say this because they produced many inventions with top of the line software. The inventions include the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook.

The iPhone has many generations since the first release in 2007. Since then four more models of the iPhone has come out. The newest model of the iPhone is the iPhone 4s, this phone has a unique dual-core A5 chip which gives you a better performance and up to 7 times better graphics. Also it has ios 5, which is an advanced system. This system allows you to do virtually any thing of your needs.

The iPad is a powerful tablet that allows you to surf the web, do research, and take on the go. With the iPad you can purchase a wireless service to access the web. Also you can find any topic for either an assignment for work or a school project. The iPad comes with a cover attached to it to protect your screen from scratches and other damages. Also it can fit in a bag or case so you can carry it with you. The MacBook is a white laptop with a thirteen inch screen. The School District of Philadelphia and other school districts use them for their students in grade 6-12. The students use them for research and assignments in class. Also some schools allow students to take the MacBook home to do work or personal things; one of these schools is High School Of The Future.

The Economy Continued

Currently in the United States of America the economy has recently decreased in the recent years. The economy has decreased because the United States has been printing too much money so it lost a lot of its value. I say this because in the pass you could buy a bag of candy for no more than fifty cent, but now you can only buy ten pieces.

Also 20 dollars was considered a lot of money but now it is seen as a little bit, this was said because kids spend more than 500 dollars a month on food, clothes, and activities. Parents tell their children that they don’t know the value of a dollar and they need to get a job to learn how to support them when they get older in the future.

The economy is in poor condition because the social class of the wealthy has decreased while the class of poor has increased. People lose their jobs every day and most can’t afford to take care of their family, so they become homeless.

Sooner or later the population of the United States will most likely file for bankruptcy. If that happen the human population will die out or break into chaos. If that happens it could start world war III and destroy the human race.

I hope one day soon our president will try to save our great nation of America from this poor condition and worrying. If he/she does we can  work hard to improve the earth and our technology.
