Recently here in journalism class
at parkway west high school I read an article call “Broadcasting A World Of
Whiteness.” This article was written by Jon Caramanica, a writer for the New
York Times In the article there is evidence that most television shows are
racial or using discrimination. The article states that the majority of the
popular shows gives a race that isn’t white only a few lines, such shows are
Two And A Half Man, Glee, How I Met Your Mother, and many more.
Also the article describes shows that
show a perfect example of how to use a diverse cast such as “The Game” or “
Happy Endings”. It states that the show’s cast is compatible and laughs at each
other jokes if someone would crack one at another cast member.
I personally feel the cast of all
white members has become the ideal American television show since the mid 60’s.
For example “ The 70’s Show”, “Full
House” is kids television shows that most kids idolize because they have the
model families that most kids want to have. Like when I was a kid I used to fantasize
about sitting at the kitchen table with my family eating dinner at seven o’clock
everyday, but that is just how the American lifestyle is.
